The VDE test institute successfully tested the treecups in industrial dishwashers at high temperatures up to 90°C.
For the production of the Treecup we use renewable raw materials. Petroleum is only available in limited quantities on our planet and will therefore be irreparably depleted at some point. Our biogenic raw materials, on the other hand, are constantly growing back. Thus, they are not irreversibly removed from the cycle. Our reusable Treecup is made from natural raw materials and is therefore sustainable.
Our reusable Treecup is made from the following ingredients: starch (PLA), lignin (tree resins), vegetable oils and waxes and mineral fillers. Of course, we do not put problematic substances such as bamboo fibers, formaldehyde or melamine (melamine resins) in our cups and they are completely BPA-free. Other reusable cups are usually manufactured via injection molding. The processing of so-called biogenic raw materials poses a major challenge. Most manufacturers avoid this challenge and rely on conventional plastic. Our Treecup is regularly tested for food safety (testing institute ISEGA). Under the toughest conditions, it is tested whether the Treecup releases traces into the food when in direct contact with food. Of course our cup has passed all these tests without any defects, upon request we will gladly provide the detailed test report.

We help reduce the carbon footprint with reusable Treecups made from renewable resources. Our analyses have led to a simple formula. The CO2 stored during raw material extraction can therefore be calculated as follows: treecup weight x 1.5. The Treecup 400ml weighs 95 grams and removes 140 grams of CO2 from the atmosphere during raw material extraction. This corresponds to about 35 grams of bound carbon in the reusable cup made of bioplastic. Raw material extraction therefore has a negative carbon footprint.
The climate advantage of reusable cups over disposable cups increases with each subsequent use. According to independent certification, the treecup can be reused at least 250 times. From the use phase, cleaning after each use mainly causes C02 emissions. In contrast, disposable cups involve the production and disposal, usually by incineration, of an entire cup. Overall, with the treecup, up to 90% reduction in carbon footprint is possible compared to disposable cups. Our cradle-to-cradle calculation includes the following stages of the life cycle: extraction and supply of raw materials, production, storage. In short: all steps before delivery to our customers. We are proud of these low values. Treecup's ecological balance benefits from the following factors: short delivery routes thanks to Made-In-Germany and a negative CO2 balance when extracting raw materials using naturally renewable resources.
