Production process of biobased plastic

Sugarcane is primarily used to produce cane sugar, which is intended for consumption. However, the remaining material can be converted into bioethanol. Bioethanol can then be used to produce plastic that has the same composition and quality as plastic made from petroleum. This results in a sustainable and highly recyclable product! An important advantage is that sugarcane absorbs a lot of CO2 during the growth process, so biobased plastic even has negative CO2 emissions!
