Taking a walk while enjoying a drink to go that you picked up at your local coffee shop. Perhaps you recognize yourself in this and nowadays, like for many in the Netherlands, it has become the outing of the day. Unfortunately, disposable cups are frequently used in the process and single-use waste is still growing. Nice to see that more and more catering establishments are becoming aware of this and therefore want to offer alternatives. Thus, this week we have: NATIVE.
NATIVE is a cozy espresso bar in the heart of Haarlem. You can go there to relax while enjoying coffee and special teas, among other things. The company was founded by Myriam and Maria and together with three other enterprising women form the NATIVE team. The name NATIVE stands for origin and inspires the company to constantly look for products with an original story in their product selection, as close to nature as possible. Since NATIVE is also only open to to go because of COVID-19, the team was looking for alternatives to offer for the disposable cardboard cups. Thus, they came to us.
Why Retulp?
Why they chose Retulp? According to Myriam: 'For us it was important that the products of Retulp have a clear origin, so that we can use the product to encourage our guests to use less disposable cups.' She herself mentions that there is also origin in her experience with Retulp, 'We had barely agreed and after 2 weeks the cups were already printed in with us to sell. There is also origin in that for us, in cooperation and in this case a clear and involved communication. If it is then also made beautifully and with attention, then all the owners of NATIVE start jubilating. And we transfer this enthusiasm to the guests who meanwhile have their thermos cups filled with our beautiful coffees and teas.'
Myriam's choice fell on the Retulp Tumbler, a stainless steel thermos cup that keeps coffee and tea hot for up to six hours and smoothies cold for up to eight hours. In addition to reducing disposable waste, Retulp donates 1,000 times the contents of each drink bottle sold to clean drinking water in developing countries through MadeBlue.
