Retulps Guilty Plastic Pleasures

Every week Retulp posts a 'Guilty Plastic Pleasure', a confession from one of us or a partner of Retulp. Curious about what we mean by a 'Guilty Plastic Pleasure' and why we do it? Then read along!

What is a Guilty Plastic Pleasure?

Although we have seen the term pass by somewhere on social media by now, the name came up during a brainstorm. It's a disposable plastic confession, but then Guilty Plastic Pleasure sounds nicer (; The confession is about the use of a certain disposable plastic, for which we actually know that a (good) alternative exists. Out of laziness, thoughtlessness or habit we are still 'guilty' of using single-use plastics.

Why do we want to share them?

The main reason is that we want to show that we are not perfect. Even though we strive for a world without disposable plastic and offer good alternatives for it, we too are sometimes 'guilty' of it. Moreover, if you can't 'do' without disposable plastic, it doesn't have to mean that you don't have to use alternatives at all. If you don't feel like or don't have the time to do your grocery shopping packaging-free, you can use a reusable water bottle. Does it sometimes make you dizzy when you think about how much single-use plastic you use and how you would go about replacing it all? Just start with something small and who knows where you'll end up. Every little bit helps!

GPPs of Retulpers

So what are our Guilty Plastic Pleasures? For example, Pieter, our business manager, is a real coffee addict. At the office he drinks from a mug, but when he's on the road he often uses a cardboard cup (with a plastic lid). Or Richard, the Big Boss, who feels a little guilty about the umpteenth beer out of a plastic cup at festivals. Our colleague Robert has collected a lot of cotton bags at home, but always forgets to take them to the supermarket.

Alternatives to disposable

Retulp offers an alternative to plastic water bottles and disposable cups for coffee or tea. But have you ever thought about, for example, getting your bread in a cotton bread bag or carrying your fruits and vegetables loose in special nets? Or using bamboo cotton swabs instead of regular ones? We can also offer great alternatives for New Year's gifts or end-of-year gifts.

Sometimes the solution is simply to look for an alternative. On some products the packaging industry has gone all out, maybe you can leave that and choose another product.
