Retulp runs the 8 of Apeldoorn for WWF during the 50th Midwinter Marathon
On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Apeldoorn will host the 50th edition of the Centraal Beheer Midwinter Marathon. This running event, known as one of the oldest and most beautiful in the Netherlands, attracts thousands of runners and spectators each year. One of the most popular parts is the "Eight of Apeldoorn," an 8-kilometer run through the beautiful, hilly landscape of the Berg en Bos neighborhood.
This year Retulp, as a proud ambassador of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), is participating in the Eight of Apeldoorn. With their participation, they not only want to perform athletically, but above all they want to draw attention to the protection of nature and cleaner oceans. By raising money for WWF, Retulp is contributing to a future where plastic pollution is stopped and endangered species are protected.
The Midwinter Marathon: a historic sporting event
The Midwinter Marathon has a rich history and will celebrate its 50th anniversary edition in 2025. What began as a small race in 1974 has grown into a major running event with various distances and thousands of participants. The routes run through the beautiful Veluwe countryside, making for a unique running experience.
In addition to the Acht van Apeldoorn, there are other distances, such as the Mini-Marathon, the Asselronde (25 km) and the classic Midwinter Marathon (42.195 km). The combination of a challenging course, atmospheric supporters and excellent organization makes this event particularly popular among runners.
Retulp: fighting for a better world
By participating in the Eight of Apeldoorn, we not only want to raise money, but also create awareness about the impact of plastic pollution. Plastic waste in the oceans is a major threat to marine life. Millions of tons of plastic end up in the sea every year, not only harming animals, but ultimately affecting humans through the food chain. By switching to reusable alternatives, such as Retulps sustainable drinking bottles, together we can drastically reduce the amount of plastic waste.
WWF: global conservation
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is one of the largest conservation organizations in the world. Their mission is to protect endangered species, restore natural areas and combat climate change. WWF works worldwide on projects that contribute to a more sustainable planet, including:
- Protection of species: WWF is committed to endangered animals such as tigers, elephants, rhinos and sea turtles.
- Ecosystem conservation: By protecting forests, restoring coral reefs and keeping oceans free of plastic, WWF contributes to a healthier environment.
- Sustainable solutions: From innovative fishing methods to reducing carbon emissions, WWF promotes sustainable initiatives to keep the planet livable for future generations.
Donations collected by Retulp during the Midwinter Marathon go directly to these important WWF projects. With your support, together we can make a difference.
