Since its founding in 1938, HAM Schilders BV has emerged as a leading painting company that values quality and craftsmanship. Started by Piet Ham and Siem Terhorst in picturesque Kethel, Schiedam, the company developed from a partnership to a thriving business with more than 30 employees and an annual turnover of over 4 million euros under the leadership of Ronald Ham. In 2011, after many years of growth and development, HAM Schilders moved to more spacious premises on the 's Gravelandseweg in Schiedam to accommodate its expanding operations.
The mission of HAM Painters is to function as a modern, service-oriented painting company that puts the customer's needs and desires first. The company strives to unburden the customer by providing personal guidance from quote to completion and servicing a diverse customer base ranging from individuals to housing associations. The focus is on customization and quality, with corporate social responsibility playing a key role. HAM Schilders takes its responsibility by choosing environmentally friendly materials, carefully separating waste, using sustainable transportation and supporting social initiatives such as the ALS foundation.

How were the coffee cups deployed?
We have ordered some coffee mugs for all painters that they are responsible for. These cups are used daily for drinking water, coffee or tea during working hours. By introducing these personalized cups, we have significantly reduced the use of disposable cups, contributing to our efforts to reduce waste production in the workplace. Also, this reusable coffee cup meets the guidelines of the new SUP legislation, not only promoting a more sustainable workplace, but also encouraging the team to take responsibility for their own drinking utensils and contribute to a better environment. We also deployed the coffee mugs as part of our welcome pack for new employees, as a way to emphasize the company culture of sustainability and environmental awareness from day one. This initiative has been positively received by the team and has led to greater awareness around sustainability within our company.

What reactions have you had to the cups?
Although the cups are not yet in use, our supply of paper cups is nearing its end. In the office, we are already impressed with the look and sturdiness of the cups. We are optimistic that the painters, after a short period of getting used to them, will also be satisfied. The enthusiasm in the office about the quality and design gives us confidence in a positive reception among the painters. This initiative, focused on sustainability, promises not only to reduce our environmental footprint but also to raise awareness about recycling inside and outside the company.
