Alternatives to disposable cups in education

Coffee cups and meal containers create the largest waste stream in schools, but that will soon change. Starting July 1, there will be an additional charge for disposable cups and containers made (in part) of plastic. This measure aims to encourage reuse and move away from the single-use plastic we are so addicted to. It is high time to make reusability the norm and rid our planet of the glut of plastic waste. Promote reuse of cups

At Retulp, we applaud the pricing of disposable plastic items, but we also believe more can be done to facilitate and promote reuse. Scholars should be free to use their own cup or container without restrictions. Our ultimate goal is to completely move away from disposable plastic and create a sustainable future. That is why we are excited to see more and more educational institutions making the sustainable choice and inspiring their students to do the same. At Retulp, we have had the opportunity to print reusable coffee cups and travel mugs for numerous schools and educational institutions. Leiden University, Christelijk Lyceum Veenendaal, Hotelschool The Hague, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Hoge School Maastricht and Avans Hogeschool are just a few examples of schools taking the lead in sustainability.

Examples of reusable alternatives in schools

Leiden University's ICLON provides a great example with their sustainable coffee cups and tea cups. Christelijk Lyceum Veenendaal drastically reduced the use of disposable cups by giving their employees the Retulp Tumbler. Hotelschool The Hague promotes sustainability with the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge and the Retulp travelcups as a gift for all colleagues. Erasmus University Rotterdam has already switched to reusable cups in 2022 and Avans Hogeschool is committed to a circular school with less packaging and more reusable cups and trays. Agnieten College Zwartsluis is also committed to a more sustainable school environment step by step, with reusable cups for staff and reusable bottles for students. Disposable items are slowly but surely being phased out.

Against disposable plastic

Together, let's strive for a more sustainable future by embracing reusability and reducing plastic waste. Schools can lead by example and inspire their students to make conscious choices for our planet. With Retulp as a partner, we want to pave the way for a sustainable revolution in schools and beyond.

Agnieten College

Sustainable mission

Retulp helps schools become more sustainable by offering reusable drinking cups and water bottles. Our goal is to reduce disposable plastic and make students and teachers aware of the importance of recycling. We are working with schools such as Leiden University and Erasmus University to create reusable cups with their own logos. This encourages everyone to live more sustainably. Choosing Retulp means less plastic waste and a step towards a greener school. Together we can make a difference for our planet!
